Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP)

Think that you may have had an incident where you have been exposed to HIV?

PEP is a medication that can be taken after being exposed to HIV to prevent you from acquiring the virus.

It must be started within 72 hours of exposure to be effective.

You can access PEP through SSHC, or a hospital emergency room.

Call the PEP hotline on 1800 737 669 (1800 PEP NOW) for advice on if PEP is right for you. If the hotline is closed, please attend your local hospital emergency room.
